Volunteers from the Friends group will be getting together for an hour each Saturday morning starting this month to clean, trim and water Whitfield Gardens on the corner of Tottenham Court Road and Tottenham Street.
The gardens have suffered from neglect and vandalism but recently due to the efforts of the Friends group the heavily used and abused public open space has been planted with spring flowers, small native trees and shrubs, and summer flowers have been sown.
The Friends will meet every Saturday morning from May to September to do cleaning, water the new plants, and do some pruning. It’a great opportunity to keep active and learn about trees, shrubs and wildflowers. No experience necessary and full safety training will be given.
If you have a fork, spade, or watering can, bring them along and please wear gloves and sturdy shoes or boots. Do as much or a little as you can.
Meet us in Whitfield Gardens on the corner of Tottenham Court Road and Tottenham Street at 8.00am Saturday 5 May 2018 (and every Saturday until the end of September) for an hour of gardening. We go to a local cafe afterwards. Contact us for more information or subscribe to our email newsletter.
